What better way to spend a Sunday than to run 5K with your pets?!
5K Doggy Run on the beach
Yesterday, I got the opportunity to do just that as a photographer for one of the runners.
I woke up before the suns rays could whisper life into this side of the world to take several buses to get to Nuevo Vallarta for the days 5K Marathon with pets! My friend hadn’t mentioned the pet part but had asked if I’d be willing to run with her and take some photographs. I figured I could use the exercise and would love the chance to shoot some photos again.
We arrived around 7:30am as more and more racers were showing up with their furry friends for the days run.
Competition was high for some
Some doggies were so excited to race they decided to dance a bit
It’s always important to stretch the muscles before a race.

Once the race started I was multitasking, shooting some footage of the animals running, then running to get ahead of my friend so I could turn around and take some shots of her. I continued doing this sprint, take a photo and sprint again for the first half of the 5k race until I finally began to wear down a bit and started just shooting the racers with their pets while trying to finish the race myself. Talk about getting some exercise! I was even asked to pose with some Powerade at the water stand on the beach. haha!

A Winner is announced at the end of the Running Puerto Vallarta event.
Once the race was finished everyone gathered in a pavilion where they raffled off prizes, posed for picture and cooled off. It was a great day meeting some new people and just enjoying the sunny weather and running on the beach.

As we were exiting the venue, a city tour trolley stopped and let us hitch a ride to the main road! We were glad to give this generous man a tip as we enjoyed the view while getting a ride to the bus station.
We caught a free ride back to the main bus station on the city tour trolley.
We hitched a ride on a city tour bus
I decided to be the city tour guide after the run.
Afterwards, I took a bus most of the way home and then walked through my neighborhood for a few blocks before being met at the door by my always excited furry friends Hache and Lucy, dancing about and giving me kisses.
I played with them for a bit before resting, facebooking and after taking my two pals for their walk down to the beach and back I cooked up some tasty pasta.
It began storming pretty heavy by this time but as usual, I could hear all the children playing in the water in the streets and in front of their homes, squeeling and splashing around with fits of joy. It was really nice to watch.
This was a wonderful day.
Until next time, stay cool and be ridiculous
